We’re incredibly excited to bring you TC&F’s season opener this fall, in grand TC&F style: tons of music, all of which we adore, with one of our very favorite friends of all – our resident violist, DJ Cheek. We’ll begin the season with a Ricercar from Bach’s incredible, visionary Musical Offering; the program continues with the wildly stormy C minor String Trio of Beethoven; Trio Cleonice will present Davidovsky’s Chacona, a great American trio that is new in our repertoire this season; and the concert will close with Dvorak (did you see this coming? How better to celebrate than with our beloved Dvorak!?) – his passionate, exalted E-flat major Piano Quartet. Join us at 6:15pm for a celebratory pre-concert talk in which we’ll explore and attempt to break down Bach’s Musical Offering, which – by any measure – is perhaps the most contemporary and complex piece on the program.

We are beyond excited to present December’s TC&F concert, which features our resident violist, DJ Cheek, and one of the most important people in Trio Cleonice’s musical life: violinist Laurie Smukler, whom we all studied with at Kneisel Hall and in New York. She is one of the great violinist and human beings in the whole world, and getting her to come and play with us in Brookline is a huge gift! We’ll open the program with a Haydn Quartet TBA; Emely and Laurie will perform Bartok Rhapsody; on the second half, Trio Cleonice wil present (at long last!) the Richard Wernick 2nd Trio, which he wrote for us; and the program closes with Bartok’s wild and searing 1st String Quartet. We can’t wait!
